Teaching Artist and Alumni Leader

Geri Meyers, known professionally as geriFree, is a DJ, Teaching Artist, Give a Beat consultant, and mentor whose work uses music as a pathway to healing, empowerment, and social justice. After serving 13 years of incarceration, Geri transformed her lived experience into a mission of uplifting system-impacted individuals through creativity, mentorship, and community connection.

A graduate of Give a Beat’s On a New Track Cohort 1, Geri discovered a powerful outlet through DJing, music production, and event leadership. Her commitment to positive, inclusive music led to her becoming a signed artist with Give a Beat Records, releasing her single "Pure Joy by geriFree" in 2022. Through every set she plays, Geri creates spaces rooted in freedom, healing, movement, and belonging.

Geri has DJ'd and facilitated music-centered experiences for youth development programs, justice reform initiatives, recovery communities, and social impact events throughout Los Angeles. Her work bridges entertainment and transformation, inspiring audiences to connect through rhythm, resilience, and self-expression.

As a leader in Give a Beat’s Alumni Network, Geri helps create opportunities for formerly incarcerated artists to build skills in DJing, music production, live events, and community engagement. Her vision is to cultivate a supportive creative ecosystem where alumni can thrive professionally while advocating for justice and collective healing.

Through music, mentorship, and lived experience, geriFree embodies the belief that transformation is possible and that joy, purpose, and freedom can emerge from even the most difficult journeys.
