Billy Bannon
Program Coordinator & Teaching Artist
Billy is a Program Manager and teaching artist for the “On a New Track” Reentry Mentoring Program (OANT) and a teaching artist for the Prison Electronic Music Program (PEMP) and Youth Music Program.
Billy Bannon is a former college basketball coach turned yogi, who has always been a musician at heart. With a diverse music background rooted in guitar, vocals and kirtan prior to DJing and music production, Billy has appeared on stages from coast to coast. Lending his experience from on and off the court and in the yoga studio, Billy wears a variety of hats with Give a Beat, working closely with several programs, as well as supporting the growing Program Alumni community. In addition to his work with Give a Beat, Billy currently serves as the Program Director of Prison Yoga Project’s Los Angeles Chapter, and has been leading yoga in prisons across Southern California since 2015. Billy is a graduate of Fordham University (BA, English), was a member of the football team, and his coaching career features an NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship (Cal Poly Pomona, 2010).
