Harmony in Mental Health: Our Dedication to Youth Well-Being

Teaching Artists Esseance, Malachi and Shaine at Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Last month was an incredibly transformative experience for our Give a Beat team. Our team members, Shaine, Malachi, and Esseance, had the privilege of attending a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training sponsored by Arts for Healing and Justice Network. This training not only provided them with invaluable knowledge but also equipped them to better support the young program participants we work with. The training has given them a deeper understanding of the signs and symptoms of youth in crisis, enabling them to provide the appropriate support and intervention when needed.

Esseance, one of our talented Teaching Artists and Program Coordinator at Give a Beat, shared her thoughts on the training, stating, "We spent the day diving deep into understanding the signs and symptoms of youth in crisis, equipping us to better support our young program participants." Her experience highlights the commitment and dedication of Give a Beat's Teaching Artists to our mission of empowering and uplifting young people through music.

The training also provided us with a valuable opportunity to connect with other inspiring organizations such as No East Props and InsideOUT Writers. These collaborations are invaluable as Give a Beat strives to create a powerful network of change-makers in the field of youth mental health. By working together, we can share resources and knowledge, ultimately making a greater impact on the lives of young people.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, music-based interventions can improve mental health outcomes for adolescents and young adults. At Give a Beat, our vision is clear - to help heal, motivate and inspire through the power of music. We believe in having highly skilled and trained Teaching Artists on our team. By combining the power of music with mental health support, we create a safe and nurturing environment for young people to heal, express themselves, and thrive.

This unique combination sets Give a Beat apart and allows us to make a lasting impact on the lives of those we work with. By acquiring the essential knowledge and skills, we can positively impact the lives of the individuals we collaborate with. We are empowered to establish a secure and supportive atmosphere where young individuals can recover, freely express themselves, and ultimately flourish.

By collaborating with other organizations, we enhance our mission and establish a robust network of individuals dedicated to making a difference in the realm of youth mental health. Through our dedication and unique approach, Give a Beat continues to make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.
